A second pay-what-you-can performance for Paradise Lost is added on
Thursday, April 15 at 7:30 pm
SEATTLE—Two of Intiman Theatre’s most popular audience-engagement series, Wine Wednesday and Date Night for Parents, both of which were introduced last year as pilot programs, are now available as subscription packages for the 2010 Season. Intiman is also continuing its popular ‘Round Six, a preshow “happy hour” series, which includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres from Ten Mercer, drinks from Hale’s Ales and live music on select Friday nights; offering an American Sign Language-interpretedperformance for each production, coordinated by Paul Bert and with reserved seats for the Deaf and hearing-impaired in reserved sections on Saturday nights; expanding itsAfterWords post-play discussions to nine per production (up from four).
Each series will remain on sale throughout the year for single-ticket patrons. The preshow reception for ‘Round Six and all post-play discussions are free with a ticket purchase. See below for a calendar of dates.
In response to reviews lauding the timeliness of Paradise Lost—the Depression-era drama by Clifford Odets about the important of family and community during times of financial hardship—Intiman is adding a second Pay-What-You-Can performance on Thursday, April 15 at 7:30. Tickets will go on sale at noon and may now be purchased over the phone as well as in person; new this season, patrons can pay by credit card with a $10 minimum per ticket.
Wine Wednesday is a preshow wine tasting presented by Maryhill Winery, 2009 Washington Winery of the Year. Beginning at 6:30 pm, patrons are invited to sample various wine selections and enjoy catered hors d’oeuvres from Ten Mercer in a private reception. The fee for the wine tasting is $15. To participate, patrons should call206.269.1900.
Date Night for Parents, a partnership with Kids Co. and Seattle Children’s Theatre, is an opportunity for parents of children between the ages of 4 and 12 to attend all five Intiman productions on designated Saturday nights throughout the season. Kids Co., accredited by the National AfterSchool Association, provides childcare at the John Hay Elementary School in Upper Queen Anne beginning at 6 pm. Children have the opportunity to participate in a drama workshop led by Seattle Children’s Theatre instructors, play games, have a pizza party and watch a movie. Parents enjoy a private preshow reception at Intiman beginning at 6:30 pm.
For pricing, more information or to sign up to participate, patrons should contact Kathleen Maki at kathleenm@intiman.org or 206.204.3325. Participating parents receive a discount on tickets to the Intiman production. Additional discounts are available for multiple children from the same household and “Double Date” tickets for groups of four or more attending together.
