The Moisture Festival: ACT Libertease Burlesque

April 1-3

Tickets: $25. Advance pre-sale tickets available to Basic Monthly and Charter Members.

ACT is proud to once again be among the venues hosting The Moisture Festival, Seattle’s springtime celebration of comedy, varietè, and boom-pow burlesque (18 years and over). For a show with an adult twist (not to mention some shimmy), behold ACT Libertease Burlesque a tantalizing mix of renowned local burlesque stars and ribald comedy/varietè acts.

TheFilmSchool: Caught in the ACT

April 19

Tickets: FREE!

Here’s a chance for audiences to get in on the ground floor of the film making process and shape a new work. TheFilmSchool presents a series of staged screenplay readings from outstanding alumni-written scripts, directed and read by Seattle’s top professional directors and actors, followed by a Q&A session with the screenwriter, director, actors, and cast. Readings are an important step that not only showcase the extraordinary work of alumni, but also help in developing, refining, and improving their screenplays, all with the audience’s input.

KT Niehoff/Lingo Dance: A Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light

April 22-May 15

Tickets: Single tickets start at $18 or included for ACT Basic and Charter Members

Seattle Magazine’s 2007 Dance Artist of the Year KT Niehoff continues her search for potent environments that challenge audience/artist proximity – practically, metaphorically, emotionally, and psychologically. Niehoff and her posse of vibrant performers sculpt uncommon encounters, moody collisions, raucous spectacle, and virtuosic dancing – asking for more resonant connections and embracing the success or failure that ensues. Featuring live music from Ivory and Ice World and legendary composer Scott Colburn. This exciting event is a culmination of interactive solo performances and special events presented in collaboration with ACT and Seattle Art Museum, February-April 2010. Attend, follow and/or participate in all events – learn more at lingodance.com.

Launched in 2008, The Central Heating Lab at ACT serves as an incubator and catalyst for new works. ACT cultivates, produces, and presents artists working in all performance genres and provides an artistic home for a variety of local performance groups and artists. Relationships develop daily with individual actors, performers and playwrights while established partnerships with groups such as the New Century Theatre Company, Moisture Festival and Icicle Creek Theatre Festival deepen. New programs are added throughout the year.
